"the punk scene is not very supportive. there is no so much judgment in the punk scene! people are slaves to this weird way of thinking, and it traps them into repeating the same mistakes, and writing the same albums, and creating the same artwork. it's like they don't get to grow because of these rules that they live by. and i know that on the other hand, you could get so successful that it ruins you just as easily. but those are risks you have to take and the choices you have to make. because if you really are for social change - and some punks are and some punks aren't - then who are you trying to change? the same four people over and over again? who are you going to reach that way? preaching to the choir is very limiting, and i don't want to do that."
